for festive night, u got a recommendation for an italian restaurant in roslyn, il mulino. when you arrive, you are immediately served fried zucchini, garlic bread, bruschetta, mussels and a plate of salami – all of which were complimentary! it was pretty crazy.
we were already full when we ordered but we kept going! we chose from the pre-fixe sunday dinner menu. you had a choice of appetizer: calamari, stuffed clams and caprese – all of which were really good! then a choice of soup or salad. i had the caesar salad made tableside. it was so good! for the main dish, some choices included linguini alla vongole, mushroom ravioli with truffle cream sauce, steak with potatoes and salmon. the linguini was perfectly made, ravioli was flavorful and steak was so good. finally, for dessert each person got an assortment of cheesecake, chocolate tart and tiramisu with a scoop of whipped cream and zabaglione. my favorite was the zabaglione – so tasty! to complete the meal, they served a mini glass of strong raisin wine.
this decadent meal did cost a pretty penny and you are waited on by a staff led by a captain. if you appreciated his service, you can allot a specific amount of your tip to the captain on the bill. it was a wonderfully rich meal but worth every lick!
