when i want comfort food, i want congee. there’s nothing warmer or more filling than a nice bowl of hot soupy rice. if i don’t make it myself, there’s one place i want to go to: congee village.
with two restaurants in chinatown, they serve all the classic chinese dishes including a few of my favorites: chinese greens in garlic broth, spicy jelly fish, and razor clam in black bean sauce. while other places can do chinese food as well, no one does congee better than congee village. my favorite for the last 15 years is crab congee. it is cracked to make it easier for you to suck up the crabmeat and congee together. it is a thing of beauty!
enjoy all your favorite chinese dishes, but don’t go home from this restaurant without having at least one hot, yummy bowl of congee.
