a fun drink with sweetness and tiny zing. my recommendation is to adjust the amount of sugar depending on how sweet the pear is. i made both the ginger pear tea (left) as well as the ginger pear black tea (right) variations. both were quite cool and refreshing. ahhhhhhhh!
- 2 pears, peeled and coarsely grated
- 1-inch piece ginger, sliced into 1/8-inch coins
- 4 cups water
- 1/4 cup sugar, add more or less to taste
- 1 black tea bag *optional
In a medium pot bring water, grated pear, ginger and sugar to a boil over medium heat. Reduce heat to a simmer and cook until the pears are very soft, about 30 minutes Remove from heat and strain into a bowl. Refrigerate until chilled, about 2 hours. Enjoy!
For a caffeinated variation, add a black tea bag before refrigeration for 3-4 minutes. Chill and then serve!
